THE new fast ferry link between Dover and Boulogne is all set to swing into operation.

SpeedFerries have been carrying out tests and berthing trials at both ports with their craft Speed One, which is expected to make its first commercial crossing on Wednesday.

The authorities in Boulogne are gearing up to celebrate the return of a ferry link with Dover.

The company is operating a fare structure which gives the first passengers to book for each sailing the cheapest price - £50 for a car and five passengers - with the price increasing as the ferry fills up. The maximum price is £280.

Unlike the other ferry operators, the price is the same no matter how long passengers are staying on the continent. But it is not taking foot passengers.

SpeedFerries managing director Kurt Stavis told KM-fm everything is going smoothly...
