A mechanical and electrical contractor is getting wet by launching a plumbing and drainage division, set to create 15 jobs over two years.
Synecore, based in Detling, has hired a new commercial director, Tim East, and mechanical estimator, Neal Albon, to develop the service.
The firm – which has carried out electrical installations for restaurant chains like Leon, Five Guys and Wasabi – has moved into plumbing and drainage after requests from existing clients.
Managing director Paul Thomas said: “The market has very much become one that wants a medium size mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) contractor – someone who takes full responsibility for both design and installation of all services.
“Previously we felt that we were not being considered for certain projects, as we were unable to offer the full MEP service and it was hindering our ability to work with certain clients.
“Rather than rush into a new unfamiliar territory, first, we had to recruit the right individuals, with the very best industry knowledge and experience.
“This was not an easy task and it took months of meetings and interviews to unearth the team that would help us realise our potential in this market.
“Our intention is to recruit several additional members of staff within year one, including a foreman engineers and apprentices.
“In year two we will recruit MEP contract managers and additional site-based staff.
“In total we expect this division will create 15 new jobs locally within 24 months.”
