THE poster campaign produced by oil and petroleum company Shell from the 1920s to the 1950s was one of the most memorable ever seen in Britain.
Many of the country's top artists were commissioned to contribute work, including Paul Nash, Graham Sutherland and Vanessa Bell.
Their brief was to celebrate all things British, and the result was a striking series of adverts depicting landmarks, landscapes, institutions and events in a huge variety of styles.
From now until September 28, Sevenoaks Library Gallery is exhibiting several of the original artworks, displayed alongside a collection of advertising posters. Admission is free.
