Cripps, the law firm with three Kent bases, has seen turnover grow by a quarter in six months.

The business saw revenues increase 25% to £12.3m from May to October last year, up from £9.8m in the same period the year before.

The firm, which has offices in Tunbridge Wells, Kings Hill, Sandwich and London, has taken on 20 new staff in the last 12 months, taking its headcount to more than 320 staff and partners.

The new recruits include Christina Blacklaws, one of the country’s most high profile lawyers, who joined Cripps as director of client services.

Managing partner Gavin Tyler said turnover is “on track” to exceed £25m for the year, having been £22.7m the year before.

He said: “This is an exciting period for Cripps. We’ve not only taken on a number of significant new clients in all parts of our business but are expanding the variety of work we do with existing clients – including trailblazing transactions, such as the Chapel Down crowdfunding.

“We have also won some important national and international accolades including Legal Team of the Year (Midsize) in the 2014/15 STEP Private Client Awards.

“Across different types of work, we’re ranging from busy to very busy and are looking forward to a positive second half of the year.”
