PLANS for the next major expansion on the outskirts of Ashford have been lodged with the council for development of land at Cheesemans Green, Mersham.

The Church Commissioners are seeking outline permission for 1,800 houses and 140,000 square metres of business units in an area to be known as East Stour Village.

The application includes plans for mixed-use community facilities, access roads, foot and cycle paths, landscaping and public open spaces.
