Childhood sweethearts Holly Nickalls and Stan Hunt’s wedding was a rollercoaster of emotions but one which Holly relives endlessly.
The couple’s modern-day romance began 10 years ago, when 15-year-old Stan messaged Holly, on Facebook.
“When we met up I just knew we’d be together,” said Holly. “We’ve grown up together and the rest is history.”
The night before the wedding, beauty therapist Holly, 25, walked down Canterbury High Street in the pouring rain, praying the sun would shine for her big day.
The following morning the weather didn’t look too promising either but Holly woke all her bridesmaids with personalised, silky, robes before they changed into their bejewelled, halter neck, sky blue dresses.
“I cried when I heard Stan was on his way to the venue,” recalled Holly.
"It was an emotional day. We were all crying. My sisters Hannah and Amy were emotional, my dad was crying - he’s the worst, he can never hold back the tears.”
ARRIVING IN STYLE
As if by magic, when Holly stepped outside in her sweet heart neckline, lace, princess dress, the clouds blew away and the sky finally matched her blue and silver wedding theme.
Motor car mad Stan, 25, arrived at the venue, Boughton Golf Club, in style riding in a Hummer. Holly opted for a Range Rover decked out with bows and ribbons. The indoor ceremony was lit by twinkling fairy lights and A Thousand Years by Christina Perri was playing.
Holly said: “Dad and I started to walk down and my dress got caught in the doors, I got the giggles. It was crazy.”
Luckily Holly, and her dress, made it up the aisle in one piece. Stan, turned to face her, both were so overwhelmed with emotion that they cried again.
THE RECEPTION
Every table at their reception was named after a place in Mexico, where Stan took Holly for his surprise proposal. Each guest was given a jigsaw piece as a favour because everyone made up an important piece of the day.
They chose Perfect by Ed Sheeran for their first dance. Then all the guests were wowed by magician Chris Harding before hitting the dancefloor.
Holly said: “But it was an amazing day, everyone being together and being there for us. I’d love to do it all over again.”
The couple, and a few family members, even managed to keep a tiny secret throughout the day. There will be one more addition to the Hunt family as Holly is expecting her first child in the spring.
