A Kent wedding venue has been declared 'National Countryside Venue of the Year'.

The Old Kent Barn in Swingfield won the title at the prestigious 2019 national Wedding Industry Awards.

The annual awards, for suppliers, recognise excellence in the wedding industry, combining a judging panel with votes and feedback from the entrant’s clients.

The Old Kent Barn team accepted their award at a glittering awards ceremony at the Café de Paris in London.

Voters praised The Old Kent Barn for its levels of service, attention to detail and outstanding food, plus the beautiful venue itself.

Set in landscaped grounds, surrounded by open countryside, the site has two barns: a purpose-built 110ft oak framed barn for indoor weddings and receptions and the original 'Old' barn, built over 225 years ago, which is used for accommodation.

Claire and Will Weedon set up the family-owned business in 2005, following their own wedding reception at the barn.

“We’re so pleased to bring this award home to Kent,” said Will.
