£100,000 road project for Thanet

THE main road linking the Thanet Way with port Ramsgate is being reconstructed at Cliffsend. The £100,000 project began on Monday and covers the area from the oil depot at the western edge of the village to just past the speed limit signs at the eastern side.

Temporary traffic controls are in place and work is starting each day at 9.30am to avoid morning rush hour congestion. Grahame Weston, Kent County Council highways advisory board chairman, said: “The main road in Cliffsend has deteriorated. As this road will remain the main access route to Ramsgate for years to come, KCC feels it is necessary to fully resurface the road.”

The Babtie Group, KCC’s engineering consultants, is supervising the scheme and the county council’s highway contractors, Ringway, are carrying out the work.
