£1million jackpot for Kent bond holder

A lucky woman from Kent has scooped the £1million Premium Bonds jackpot.

The winner, who wished to remain anonymous, bought the winning bond in November 2006. It is the ninth time that someone from the county has won the jackpot prize

She said: "I've kept faith that I would win the jackpot one day and receive a visit from Agent Million.

"I am really very excited at the prospect of spending some of this money, it will make treating the children and grandchildren that much easier!"

A man from Gwent also won the £1million jackpot this month, while futher cash prizes worth more than £102million were handed out across the country.

In Kent, more than 790,000 people own Premium Bonds worth £1.26billion but there are currently 12,135 unclaimed prizes outstanding in in the county, worth more than £700,000 in total.

Premium Bonds - a National Savings and Investments product - cost £1 each, and every month prizes of between £50 to £1million are handed out to bond holders. The odds of winning any prize are 22,000 to 1 and, with average luck, an investor with the maximum amount of £30,000 could win 16 tax-free prizes a year.
