IN 14 years of schooling she has never had a day off through sickness.
It means that the 18-year-old from Ramsgate has been ever-present since she first stepped into the town’s Newlands primary as a four-year-old child.
As she finishes her education as a sixth former at Clarendon House Grammar and prepares for study leave for her A level exams this summer, that is 2,660 days.
Michelle, who plans to study Information Technology at the University of Kent, said: "There is no real secret to why I have not had a day off sick. If I have a cold or feel poorly I generally find that coming to school helps because it occupies my thoughts.
"I have been quite lucky with my health but I do love school so there has never been a question of making feeling unwell an excuse not to come in."
She also enjoys regular exercise and plays badminton, netball, tennis and golf.
Head teacher Jane Bennett said: "Generally students have around a 95 per cent attendance throughout the year with days off for common ailments – that is par for the course.
"But I have never come across someone with Michelle’s attendance figures; I doubt if any teacher has for it is quite remarkable."
