3 in dock over stabbing murder

THREE men accused of murdering a man in Thamesmead have been remanded in custody.

Mark Evans, 44, of Abbey Wood, suffered 30 stab wounds including a fatal wound to the heart in an incident in Kale Road on Thursday night.

Two brothers and another man from Thamesmead accused of his murder, were brought before Bexley magistrates on Monday.

Robert Randall, 24, of Holstein Way, Gary Wheal, 27, of Kale Road, and Carl Wheal, 36, of Lensbury Way, spoke only to confirm their identity.

They are due to enter pleas at the Old Bailey later this month.

The brothers' hearing at Bexley Magistrates' Court was delayed until the afternoon because there was no prison van available to transfer them from Lewisham Police Station.

As they were led away to the cells, Carl Wheal shouted: "Love you mum."

Two other people arrested on Sunday in connection with the investigation remain in custody at police stations in south London.
