30-strong gang hunted after street attacks

A GROUP of about 30 youths are believed to have committed two serious assaults in a Kent seaside town.

In one incident a man’s head was stamped on and in the other two teenage brothers suffered severe facial injuries.

The first attack took place in High Street, Broadstairs, at about 10.50pm on Friday. Four men returned to their car and found a girl sitting on the bonnet.

One of them, a 27-year-old man, asked her to get off and she became abusive. Almost immediately about 30 people appeared and joined in the abuse.

The man, his 22-year-old brother and two friends were set upon and a fight broke out.

The 27-year-old man was knocked to the ground and his head was stamped on.

One of his teeth was knocked loose, and he suffered swelling to his face and a cut inside his mouth. The 22-year-old man suffered swelling, cuts and a bruised eye.

Earlier in the evening, at about 7pm, two brothers aged 18 and 19, were riding their mini-motorcycles on the grass area behind Broadstairs Railway Station when a similar sized group of youths attacked them and stole one of the bikes.

The 19-year-old suffered a broken nose, three cuts to his forehead, two black eyes and a cut above his left eye requiring 16 stitches. His brother’s jaw was fractured.

Detectives are appealing for information about the group. Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Katrina Whitehead on 01843 222151.
