4 bailed after girl's ordeal in car

KENT Police are appealing for witnesses after a 16-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted by a number of young people in a car.

Residents alerted the police after hearing the girl’s screams coming from the N reg silver grey Vauxhall Corsa.

The incident took place in the recreation ground near the Old Mill Court, Biddenden, near Ashford, at around 9pm on Monday.

The girl, from the Tenterden area, sustained minor injuries when she was subjected to a physical assault before police located the car and arrested some suspects.

Two males, a 19-year-old from Hawkhurst, and a 15-year-old from Biddenden, and two females, a 16-year-old from Tenterden and a 15-year-old from Biddenden, have been bailed by police until October 30 pending a decision to prosecute.

Police would still like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of the squash club and the recreation ground at the time of the incident who may have heard the girl screaming or saw the silver grey Corsa at the location.

Det Sgt Mark Smith, of Ashford Police said: “This was a frightening situation for the 16-year-old girl to find herself in."
