Hundreds of cans of lager have been stolen from a lorry parked up alongside a Kent road.

The truck was stopped alongside the A249 at Detling Hill on Friday when it was broken into.

A number of cases of lager – each holding 24 cans – were loaded onto another vehicle, which was then driven towards London.

Kent Police caught up with the vehicle on the M2 and recovered around 400 cans.

A 46-year-old man from Canning Town, London, was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle. He has been bailed until Thursday, October 20.
