The ex-Adam and the Ants frontman reveals quite an affection for all creatures great and small in a chat ahead of his new headline tour.

Warrior ant or worker ant? Worker ant. You don’t get anywhere without work. Work is its own reward.

Antz or A Bugs Life? Antz. In a nuclear disaster, only cockroaches and ants would survive and if you chop an ant’s head off it keeps going.

Antmusic or Beatlemania? Antmusic of course.

Spiders or praying mantis? Praying mantis. They bite the head off their lovers when they have finished with them. The thing about insects that I like is that they have got their skeletons on the outside and the flesh inside, whereas we are the opposite.

Bees or wasps? Bees. I love bees. I love bees, slugs and snails. They are the underdogs of the British continent. I love bees though. There won’t be much honey around if these foreign bees keep killing ours.

Butterflies or moths? Both are great. They are beautiful close up. I suppose it would have to be butterflies as moths eat your clothes.

Adam Ant’s solo tour comes to Tunbridge Wells’ Assembly Hall Theatre on Friday, December 2.
