The Muslim stand up is on his first solo tour after an Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer nomination and a successful appearance on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow. Significantly for this interview, he used to be a video games designer.

Sonic or Mario? Mario without a shadow of a doubt. I have fallen out with friends over this. Nintendo were the innovators and were always superior to Sega.

Mario or Luigi? Mario. It’s not called Super Luigi Brothers is it?

PlayStation of Xbox? Xbox. Xbox Live is a really good platform to play on. Plus that is where I had my Call of Duty experience which I talk about in my show.

Driving game or beat ‘em up? (purposefully and without hesitation) Beat ‘em ups! Street Fighter 2 was awesome. I’m enjoying this. Ask me more.

Play Wii or too tired? Play Wii. I bought one the moment they came out. I’m looking forward to the new Zelda game.

Modern Warfare or World At War? Modern warfare.

Pac-Man or Asteroids? You know what? I’m not fussed. I am not passionate about either. Maybe Pac-Man as Asteroids was more repetitive.

Visit the arcade or play at home? I would say play at home because now anything you can play in an arcade you can play with the same quality at home but back in the day it was arcades.

Best video game music ever? Arrgghh there are too many! My iPod is filled with video game music, I’ve got all the Street Fighter and Mario music. If I had to choose I would say Super Mario Brothers. Everyone knows it. Do do do da da do do...

Imran Yusuf performs at Folkestone’s Quarterhouse on Friday, April 15 and at Canterbury’s Gulbenkian Theatre on Saturday, June 4.
