Gillingham completed their second signing on Thursday after securing the services of striker Jo Kuffour until the end of the season.
The 30-year-old front-man returns to the Gills permanently from Bristol Rovers after impressing recently during a three-month loan stint.
He netted seven goals in 13 appearances for Andy Hessenthaler’s men and the Gills boss was thrilled to have him back.
“He did very well for us during his loan spell and it’s a big boost to bring him back,” said Hessenthaler.
The announcement of the Kuffour signing came just hours after the Gills agreed a deal with fellow League 2 side Dagenham to take forward Gavin Tomlin on loan for the remainder of the current campaign.
Both players will join the Gills' squad for the trip to Shrewsbury.
Kuffour has not trained recently, due to a bout of bronchitis, but he is expected to be fit enough to play some part for the Gills as they return to league action this weekend.
The former Arsenal youth striker made his debut for the Gills this season in the defeat at AFC Wimbledon but the goals soon came and he hit a double against Morecambe before firing in a hat-trick against Northampton.
Both he and Tomlin will be welcome additions to a Gills squad that had been light on forwards, not helped by an injury to leading scorer Danny Kedwell, which looks set to keep him sidelined for several weeks.
Tomlin’s arrival could open the way for Luke Rooney to depart. He is understood to be close to making a move to Swindon. The arrival of the pair is likely to end Hessenthaler's incoming transfer activity now until the summer.
