More on KentOnline
Tim Edey and Jon Sanders are two of the most in demand, well-known and exciting musicians on the Celtic, folk and acoustic music scene today.
They come together to play their first UK gigs this year on Friday, July 18, after completing busy overseas tour schedules - Tim in UK and Europe with his trio of Brendan Power and Lucy Randall, while Jon returns from New Zealand after touring with piper Eoin Duignan and singer Michael Black.
This musical journey will take you to the foot hills of Mount Brandon in West Kerry, to Andalucia in Spain, on to Balkan countries and even across the Atlantic to sultry Latino climes. The two make their journey accompanied by guitars, melodeon, piano, bouzouki, whistles, bass and vocals. Add to that a story or two from their musical adventures and the night is primed! For guitar lovers, they are simply two of the best acoustic players around on the scene.
Tim and Jon although both from Kent originally, have been based in Dingle on Ireland’s Atlantic coast for over a decade and have immersed themselves in the traditional music of the area, becoming masters of it but bringing outside influences from Latin jazz, gypsy swing, classical and rock genres creating a really original sound - from percussive rhythms to duelling melodies, from dark places to fields of gold.
Between them they have played, toured and recorded with a who’s who of folk and Irish music including; Mary Black, Steve Cooney, Michael McGoldrick, Eleanor McEvoy, Sharon Shannon, Seamus Begley, members of Capercaillie, Lunasa, Julie Fowlis, Anam and many more.
