Benenden Hospital, near Cranbrook
A tribute concert of kings and queens of pop marks the Queen’s anniversary year with performances from acts like Queen, Michael Jackson, Elvis and Tina Turner. There will be face painting, balloon sculptors and magic. The evening finishes on a fireworks finale with the national anthem.

A hog roast and beer tent will fuel the celebrations, which include games and competitions. An extended farmers’ market on the green offer treats to take home.

A Best of British event will turn the shopping centre into a summer getaway. Children can build sand castles, play with inflatable toys and watch a Punch and Judy show. Brillo the Clown will keep shoppers smiling and there will be an ice cream van keeping up the English seaside scenario. Dockside centre manager Anthony Sutton said “This is set to be a fantastic weekend for all the family with lots of fun activities! We are really excited to be celebrating the Jubilee weekend with an iconic British event and hope our shoppers have a fabulous time!”

Chatham Waterfront
Yachts and sailing vessels of every kind will join together for the Medway River Festival. The river displays and races run all day, along with food stalls, exhibitions and live music. Medway Council’s Howard Doe said: “With so much of Medway’s rich history associated with the river, this wonderful themed day will be the perfect way to begin this very special weekend of celebration, and we hope that it will bring out a real community spirit that will continue throughout the Diamond Jubilee holiday.”

Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre
Children can make flags, masks, tiaras and flowers while mum and dad go shopping. The centre will be covered in giant flags for the Diamond Jubilee, while the painting and crafts workshops go ahead.

Hever Castle
Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn will revisit Anne’s coronation for the Tudor Jubilee Celebrations. Tudor music, have-a-go archery and craftsmen from the era will give a historic flavour to the weekend’s celebrations and visitors can see copies of the crown jewels, with a competition for best-dressed prince and princess.

Kent Life, Maidstone
The farmyard attraction at Sandling is planning nine days of Jubilee fun, reliving childhood games and memories of the 1950s. The setting at Kent Life has changed little since 1952, when the Queen came to the throne, so a street party with Union Flags, bunting and balloons will make anyone who remembers the occasion 60 years ago feel at home. A royal look-a-like competition will raise a smile and there will be skipping and three-legged and running races. A 1950s fete will be held on the village green on Monday and Tuesday, with a coconut shy, hook a duck, tombola and splat the rat. Events manager Natalie Kirk said: “The Diamond Jubilee is a once in a lifetime moment and there is no better place to experience the celebrations than at Kent Life. It is the perfect place to step back in time to relive memories of a bygone era and celebrate the present. Our 1950s farmhouse will transport you back in time to when the coronation was about to happen whilst the street parties will bring you to the now.”

Leeds Castle
The Diamond Jubilee fireworks and open air cinema evening will take place over two nights, with live music, a vintage newsreel of the Coronation and highlights of the Diamond Jubilee Pageant. On Sunday there will also be a showing of 1950s-set film Grease with a grand fireworks finale accompanied by themed music. Bring a picnic and watch the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant and flotilla at high water, broadcast from London on a big screen.

Oaklands, Hythe
A party in the park will hosts the likes of the Southern Golden Retriever Display Team and the New Romney Cadets Marching Band. Take a look at the Jubilee bonnet parade, children’s fancy dress and donkey rides as well as a tennis display by the Hythe Tennis Club. A hog roast will be on the go, as well as a bar.

The Pantiles,Tunbridge Wells
Kentish traders on the Pantiles market will run their stalls throughout the weekend and there will be a street party on Sunday. A plant sale will fill the area with a riot of colour.

Penshurst Place, Tunbridge Wells
Treasured items from the Queen’s Coronation will go on show at the estate to mark the Jubilee. Among the exhibits are an original, hard-bound leather Form and Order of Service and two embroidered chairs from the Coronation which was held at Westminster Abbey, attended by the former Lord and Lady De L’Isle on June 2, 1953. Also on display will be a collection of formal letters, royal commands and instructions about the mourning requirements for King George VI and the Coronation of the Queen. Children will be kept busy when they make Union Jack place mats and other royal-themed crafts throughout the Jubilee weekend and beyond. Storytellers from Aardvark productions will keep children entertained. You can also wander around the beautiful estate, which has stood on the banks of the River Medway since the 14th century.

Smallhythe Place, Tenterden
Vintage stalls, a beer tent and a miniature railway will pitch up at the 16th century half-timbered house for a 1950s-themed fete. There is a prize for the best fancy dress and Jubilee-costumed party-goers will play games and dance throughout the two days. On Saturday evening, it’s time to put on your dancing shoes for some super1950s swing will be performed by the Chris Corcoran Trio, with a fish and chip van making a delicious feast to soak up the ale consumed in the garden.
