KentOnline has been given a sneak preview of Canterbury's
new-look Marlowe Theatre, more than a week before it opens to the
public.

The £25 million complex is set to offer the city a major
cultural boost, with seating for up to 1,200 people, an orchestra
pit capable of holding 80 musicians and a new studio space,
allowing local people to produce and present their own work.

It has taken more than two years to construct the new
theatre, which replaces a building that had stood in The
Friars since 1933.

Huge windows offer stunning views of historic Canterbury and the
city's cathedral, while new bars and cafés, a riverside walk and a
public piazza provide further incentive to visit.

A opening night gala on Tuesday will launch the new venue, which
opens to the public next Friday.
