It looks like another week that will be dominated by the big issues of the day, Brexit and the coronavirus.

But all eyes will be focused on the Chancellor's spending review statement on Wednesday for clues on whether there is to be a pay freeze for public sector workers as the government begins to examine the possibilities and necessities of trimming budgets and spending to rein in some of the huge debts that have been incurred during the crisis.

We are set to hear more about the additional powers the government is taking in relation to managing traffic in and out of the county on route to and from the channel ports when Brexit happens.

And it really is getting down to the business end of negotiations on Brexit and the terms of the UK’s departure from the European Union.

Given what has gone before, with deadlines coming and going, don't bank on a deal being signed off completely as the political brinkmanship on both sides is likely to lead to sharp manoeuvres and late night concessions being struck so that both sides can claim they have got the deal they wanted.

Fishing rights look set to be a flashpoint even though the sector represents a very small part of our trade but it is a totemic issue on both sides.

And of course there is the ongoing efforts by the government to find a way of easing restrictions on Covid lockdown to stop Christmas being cancelled.

And prevent Boris from being the Grinch who stole Christmas..
