Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler fielded a youthful side in a reserve outing against Millwall on Tuesday afternoon.

Former QPR youth player Greg Miley, who has recently been with US side Kitsap Pumas, was in a Gillingham team whose oldest professional was 20-year-old midfielder Dean Rance.

They were up against a Millwall team which included experienced campaigners such as keeper Steve Mildenhall and defenders Darren Purse and Tony Craig.

Millwall head beaten Gills keeper Paulo Gazzaniga twice in the opening 25 minutes and there were fears of a repeat of heavy scorelines that have recently occured at Ipswich and Fulham.

Dammi Shitta had put Millwall ahead with three minutes on the clock and Connor Wilkinson doubled the lead.

Youth captain Bradley Dack (left) had a number of chances in the second half as the Gills improved and got a goal back.

Impressive teenager Ashley Miller was fouled in the box by Purse, who found the lively youth team player a handful, and first year pro Jack Evans (pictured above) netted from the spot.

Mildenhall needed to make a full-length save to deny Dack from levelling the game, which ended 2-1 to Millwall.
