Traffic was brought to a virtual stand-still on the coast-bound A2 on Thursday night following a car crash.
Emergency services were at the scene just after 5.30pm following the incident just before the Ebbsfleet turn-off near Gravesend.
Motorists were caught in queues tailing back to the M25 as two lanes were closed.
