The KentOnline Charity of the Year will benefit from an abseil in Maidstone at the weekend.

Participants in the KM Charity Challenge event on Sunday included fundraisers for Kent Air Ambulance.

They joined a total of 60 participants for the big drop at Miller House.

People taking part could elect which good cause they wished the bulk of their sponsorship funds to go to and more than £9,000 was pledged for charity.

They included Mark Bray from Chatham, who raised money for KentOnline's Charity of the Year, the Kent Air Ambulance.

Simon Dolby from the KM Charity Team, which staged the event, said: "It was a great opportunity for people to test their sense of adventure while raising money for the charity of their choice."

Mr Dolby added that the charities were so grateful to the event sponsors, whose backing enabled the event to take place.

The event was supported by Day, Smith and Hunter Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors, Maidstone Scaffolding and Kent Reliance. The abseil provider was Over the Edge.
