Action call over estate problems

Children climbing into garden to retrieve balls is wearing thin for residents of a Whitstable housing estate.

They say they have suffered from years of problems from Abbey New Homes failing to complete the development.

Issues include Abbey’s choice of site for a ball court and failure to fence it, which means balls land in residents’ gardens every day, and children often climb into their gardens to retrieve them.

“Abbey agreed to provide fencing around the ball park in August but it has still not been installed,” said resident Rachel Reid.

People living in Trilby Way have now joined together with residents in nearby Sand End, Sunset Park and Sheppey View, off Thanet Way, to demand action from Abbey.

A spokesman for Abbey New Homes was unavailable for comment but city council spokesman Rob Davies said it was hoped work would be completed by the end of May.
