A CAR driver who survived a horrific hit-and-and run incident has appealed to those involved to come forward.
Simon Eels, 23, of Romden Road, Smarden, near Ashford, suffered a dislocated shoulder, neck and chest injuries and facial scarring after his parked car was hit from behind on December 27.
Mr Eels’ three-month-old car was parked partly on a friend’s driveway in Smarden with its hazard warning lights on at about 7.15pm when it was hit from behind.
While his two friends, Dave Collins and William Barkway, were unhurt, Mr Eels was dragged about 100 yards down the road with his car until it hit a tree.
Ten minutes later the two men from the other car, a silver Audi or similar, returned to Mr Barkway’s house where Mr Eels lay unconscious.
He said: “I am told that they said 'We think we’ve hit a car outside’. Then they saw me on the floor. I looked dead. One of them said he wanted to talk to his friend outside.”
That was the last that was seen of the pair, who are thought to be in their 30s.
Mr Eels was taken to the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford where he spent a day on oxygen due to his chest injuries. He has seen a specialist for his face injury, a particularly worrying problem as his appearance is vital to his career as an actor. He hopes to be better shortly to allow him to compete for a role in a BBC drama.
Anyone with information about the incident can contact Sgt Rachel Lovell at Tenterden Police Station on 01233 896483.
