Adam Riley says he will never forget his Kent debut against Worcestershire in the Clydesdale Bank 40 at the St Lawrence Ground on Sunday.
The 19-year-old off-spinner (pictured) claiming figures of 2-37 in the game televised live on Sky and retained his place in the side for the county’s eight-wicket win over Middlesex at Lord’s on Monday.
Riley and fellow youngsters Ashley Shaw and Adam Ball, who made his championship debut against Gloucestershire last week, were all drafted in due to Kent’s early season bowling injury crisis.
He said: "It was good fun. Sunday was a day I will never forget and playing at Lord’s was just as special. My mum and dad came to the Worcestershire game, and my sister and a few friends were there on Monday."
A Second XI workout in a combined Kent/Essex side at Billericay might have been on the cards last week but things changed quickly.
Riley added: "I was 12th man for the first team and Farby told me I was in the squad for both one-day games but never sure I was going to play.
"Joe Denly, Robbie Joseph, and Simon Cook were then all injured and when I arrived at the ground on Sunday, Rob Key came up to me and told me I was playing.
"I was bit nervous at the start but getting Vikram Solanki was a good wicket for my first one and I then had Neil Pinner stumped."
