It will be a date to remember for Cheryl Ginn on Wednesday.

The figures line up 20.08.2008. And what’s more, Cheryl, of Montague House, Gillingham, will be celebrating her 20th birthday.

“I didn’t realise the significance of the date until it was pointed out by a friend,” she said. “But I suppose there can’t be many people who are 20 on 20.08 2008.

“Someone said it might be lucky, but I’m not so sure about that.”

Cheryl, who works as an assistant housekeeper at Medway Maritime Hospital, plans to go out for a drink with friends on Wednesday. She is looking forward to a trip to Thorpe Park next weekend as a birthday celebration.

The friend who pointed out the date coincidence was Laura Barton, who lives in the same block of flats as Cheryl.

“It suddenly struck me,” she said. “It’s certainly worth celebrating.”

Another coincidence they might not have spotted is that if you add up the digits of 20.08.2008 it comes to 20 – Cheryl’s age on the day.
