WORRIED parents are on stranger-danger alert after an attempted abduction at a Kent primary school.
Children at Bredhurst school, near Gillingham, were hustled into the main building and the police were called in after a Year 5 pupil was approached by a man in a car. The terrified youngster ran away and told a teacher.
Head teacher Chris James said stranger-danger had now been reinforced to the whole school. He added: “A letter has been sent to all parents and neighbouring schools asking for extra vigilance at this time.”
But fear has now spread to other schools including Fair View Infants in Drewery Drive, Wigmore, and Park Wood Infants, in Deanwood Drive, Parkwood, Rainham.
One mother, who asked not to be named, has two children at Fair View Infants and was concerned other schools could be targeted.
She said: “I have heard about this sort of thing happening during the last two or three years, but it is worrying when we are told about it directly from the school."
She stressed there should be more publicity about this type of incident following recent stories about internet paedophiles.
