A TOTAL of 150 horses are entered for the first point-to-point of the South East area for the South East Hunt’s meeting to be run at Charing on Sunday. The first of six races starts at noon.

The course is in good condition with an excellent covering of grass and a great day’s racing looks certain.

The meeting starts with the Club Members’ Maiden Race for four, five, six and seven year olds, run over two and a half miles.

This will be the first time four year olds have been allowed to run in Points and two have been entered out of a total of 21.

Butler’s Roy comes from the in form Sborborg yard based in East Anglia and must have a great chance, while Simon Tindall from Sussex has a nicely made French five year old entered Napolilo who will be ridden by six times area leading male rider, Chris Gordon.

In the Restricted another Tindall horse Rockwoode Clover must have a great chance but Sword Fighter or Blake’s Road will be the danger.

For the Men’s Open Cedar Chief and Little Farmer, ridden by current champion rider, Phillip Hall are in contention, but Rhythm King just keeps on winning and has already won on this course last year must be the favourite.

There is a fantastic entry for the Ladies’ Open with horses from the Fitzwilliam and Suffolk Hunts entered together with local ones.

The Area Ladies Champion, Caroline Taylor, runs Millennium Way, who traditionally runs well on this course.

The highest entry, 39 horses, comes in the SEHC Members’ Conditions race. The ground might be too fast for Honourable Spider and Heaven is Above may prefer a little more cut in the ground, which leaves Magnolia, who will have a great chance if he settles.

Phil York has been riding in great form this season and his Showbiz Floozie may be the answer in the final race of the day, the Members’ Maiden. Naranjita may be the danger.
