It was a case of so near and yet so far for my tip Aghadown Donna as she failed by just three quarters of a length to win the Tony Morris Memorial Rose Bowl.

Her chances went at the boxes as she trapped out slower than is normal for her which made all the difference but she comes out of this race with plenty of credit.

On the positive side, you should give her some serious consideration when she runs her next race here whatever the opposition may be.

There was a nice performance from Saw You Coming who was one of four greyhounds making their debuts here in the first race on Friday night’s card.

Owner trainer Julie Luckhurst saw her youngster miss her break when the traps went up but the dog showed enough early pace to get back into contention to lead out of the second bend. She showed her competitive spirit to hold off the more experienced Lordsbury Almond to win by three quarters of a length. Could well be a nice type.

We have a few individuals here at the moment that are on a roll so as usual, the question is will the winning streaks continue?

Ballygibba Sue has now won three of her last four races and has risen up from grade A6 to now win an A3 race at the weekend. It may be that she will find A2 level just beyond her at the moment, however you should watch out for her being dropped down a grade.

Global Chaos can do little wrong lately with three wins and two seconds from his last five outings and although he tends to hover between the bottom two grades, he will have delighted both his owner and trainer with his recent exploits which included a win in one of the £500 graded races staged here recently.

I would also suggest that you monitor the progress of newcomer Chippys Chiseler. The December 2009 pup has certainly had close finishes in her last three competitive races which have seen her win the last two by just a head and a short head.

Two from four starts is a good strike rate and there is still room on the clock for her to win an A5 race.

It may be that the racing office will take a lenient view and leave her in her current A6 grade, given that she won by the minimal distance, in which case she would definitely be worth due consideration.
