This Friday night’s meeting is the second half of the 25th anniversary celebrations, following on from last week’s successful evening which saw 13 races, with the trophies being presented by staff members who have been at the track since 1986.

The presentations this week will be made by several celebrity guests, so all in all, this is one meeting that should not be missed.

Entry fee is just £2.50 for this meeting with the first 250 paying guests getting a free drink. It will be a great occasion.

On the track, I was pleased to see two of my recent selections winning in good style.

Pegeen Maidhc, who I had expected to perform well over 714 metres, after a promising first effort, certainly came up trumps as she ran away from her field over that distance in an Open race winning by nearly six lengths at starting odds of 3-1.

Ardera Saphira produced a second win for column followers as she won also at 3-1 over 540 metres and she looks like being somewhere near to her best at the moment.

While I normally base my selections on race results, you should always remember that trials are also an invaluable guide to a dog’s ability.

While most trials are usually for three runners or less, they still give an insight into what can be achieved on the clock by individuals.

Last Saturday night before racing, Bringinhersunny recorded 23.43 seconds over 380 metres.

The dog recently won three consecutive top grade A1 races here but this trial shows that he is at his best and will undoubtedly figure prominently again once back on the race card.

On the same evening, Tictac Tyson recorded a time of 23.41 seconds on his way to winning the last race which was an A3 race.

Expect two big performances when they run next.
