Last week’s top tip Corbally Bound did not disappoint as she raced to victory in the SIS 500 feature race on last Thursday afternoon’s card.
The race was run as I had expected with the selection trapping out smartly and from that point on she never looked in danger as she crossed the winning line just under seven lengths clear of her nearest rival.
The 7-2 winning price looked excellent value in hindsight so let’s see if we can find more winners this week.
Performance of the week for me came from newcomer Nanny Hi Hills on the same card, in only his third competitive race since joining trainer Julie Luckhurst’s kennels.
Having put in a scintillating sectional time of 3.46sec, trap to line, the dog ran on impressively to register a finish time of 23.70sec in low grade A7. To put this into perspective the fastest sectional time in the top grade A1 race at the weekend was a 3.48 and the win time was 23.61sec. On this evidence, the greyhound must have excellent prospects of climbing up the grading system in the next few weeks if he can maintain his continued improvement.
Three races, three quicker times so far – definitely one for the notebook and get on now before he finds his real level on the race card.
I have a bit of a soft spot for little Liskees Joy who has been running so well lately.
Weighing in at just 24.7k she is full of determination and rarely runs a bad race here.
The winner of Opens at both Hove and Mildenhall she is capable of winning races here, particularly in grade A2.
Having won in top grade A1 last Saturday this is not likely to happen just at the moment but in her vein of form it is possibie that she might just win an A1 again.
She was excellent value at 9-2 last time and I would still expect a price of around 4-1, despite the win, on her reappearance. She may be small but she has a big heart. That’s good enough for me.
