A MAN who mugged a young woman at knifepoint in a Strood alleyway has been jailed for more than three years.

Ryan Coomber stood impassively in the dock at Maidstone Crown Court as Judge Andrew Patience QC described how he had "seriously traumatised" his victim.

Sentencing 21-year-old Coomber to three years and three months he said: "You reduced a normal, outward going and confident young lady into someone who has for a long period lost her confidence, became scared of strangers, fearful she might meet you again and fearful and wary of people who look like you."

Coomber, of Nottingham Walk, Strood, admitted robbery on May 17 last year. He was given credit for his guilty plea.
