AMANDA CHAMPION: her body was found on waste ground

CONCERN is growing among the community in Ashford where murdered Amanda Champion was found because detectives remain tight-lipped about her murder.

It is a month since the 21-year-old's body was discovered and South Willesborough councillor Malcolm Eke says people are desperate for an update.

He said: "People are concerned that no information has been given out. We had the police unit in Mead Road for a few days but it suddenly disappeared and nobody knows what's going on.

"The police should be more open and it seems very strange that they're keeping it so quiet."

Miss Champion's decomposed body was found on July 26 on waste ground near The Albion pub in South Willesborough. She was last seen just after 5pm on July 3.

Det Ch Insp Martin Harris, the officer in charge of the murder inquiry, said: "Investigations are continuing. There are a number of leads we are pursuing, and a lot of work is going on, but for operational reasons we cannot discuss this at this time."

Anyone with information about the murder is asked call the incident room on 01303 289600.
