A rapidly-growing car parts firm is driving ahead with 50 new jobs – and inviting would-be recruits to find out more at the end of the month.

Automotive Distributors Limited (ADL), based in Marden and one of Mid-Kent’s largest employers, has seen turnover rocket from £45m to £75m in just five years.

It specialises in distributing parts to the independent aftermarket, with products going to about 130 countries .

The distribution and office complex at Wheelbarrow Park, Pattenden Lane, employs nearly 230 people, and with the firm expecting continued expansion, is looking for 50 new workers to join, with the prospect of 100 more over the next three years.

ADL was founded in the 1980s and bought in 2011 by the long-established family-owned Bilstein Group, based near Dusseldorf, Germany.

Since then, turnover has accelerated, especially exports which now account for about half the turnover and are set to rise to 70% over the next few years.

The firm is looking to recruit staff across all departments and occupations, and more will be explained at a recruitment open event at the Hilton Hotel, Maidstone, on Thursday, May 30, between 4pm and 8.30pm.

Divisional HR director Julie Pierce said: “There will be a team of us, including managers from different parts of the business, especially those with current vacancies to fill. We are looking for talent to join our growing team.”

There would be a mix of jobs on offer, she added, including apprenticeships, distribution centre workers, graduates looking for their first job, young people completing their A-levels and wondering whether or not to go to university, software designers, marketing specialists and accountants. ADL is also seeking linguists fluent in a second language, especially German.

The company said it would be looking for “ambitious people with a strong work ethic who want to be part of a successful international, yet local, team. As an accredited member of the Investors in People scheme, we understand that our greatest asset is our employees.”
