St Patrick's Day is nearly here - and with it being on a Friday there will be lots of folk joining in the celebrations.
With Ireland's patron saint often marked with more enthusiasm over here than our own St George, the Guinness will be flowing and the music playing.
Here are 15 things for you to do on St Patrick's Day:
CANTERBURY
Utah Saints at the Penny Theatre
The world renowned duo have released nine top 40 UK hits, four of which were in the top 10, and have sold over 2 million records worldwide. They supported U2 on a UK and European tour. Early bird tickets are on sale for £5. Doors open at 7pm.
Irish folk night at The Cricketers
A selection of music artists giving their own personal renditions of Irish folk music, from the likes of The Pinocchios and Maximum Martin, who is known for his exuberance and charismatic performances of Irish grunge, and will be playing a Pogues based set. Entry is free and the event starts at 8.00pm.
Paddle and Pub at Canoe Wild
St Patrick's Day Paddle and Pub at Canoe Wild – A kayak tour with beer! See the best of Canterbury’s River Stour with a guided kayak tour, and stop off at one of the three pubs along the route to celebrate the day. Your St Pat’s day will be well sorted, with an abundance of wildlife to see and beautiful scenic routes. Tickets are £25 for adults and £15 for children under 16. Book here.
WHITSTABLE
Rockabilly trio at the East Kent
The Spunyboys will be at the East Kent on Friday night with a plethora of music that ranges from hillbilly to 50s R&B and Rock N Roll. Make sure to put your names on the event Facebook page to get free entry and avoid disappointment. From 9pm.
HERNE BAY
Irish night at the Hampton Inn
Visit Hampton-on-seas only surviving building for a St Patrick's Day themed menu that ranges from smoked salmon, soda bread crostini, and Irish whiskey roasted salmon.There's traditional Irish shepards pie and Guinness and honey glazed pork loin on offer. If you haven’t quite got your Guinness fix by the time dinners over, there’s even some Guinness cake to enjoy. Menu available from 6pm.
FAVERSHAM
Rock night at The Market Inn
If you’re a fan of rock music, then this event is perfect. The Mofos, a three-piece band from Maidstone, will be playing all of your favourite tracks – from the Beatles and Oasis to Green Day and the Foo Fighters. The night begins at 8.30pm and entry is free!
THANET
Disco night at Bugsy's Bowling Alley, Ramsgate
Enjoy some fun with all the family with a disco night in celebration of all things Irish. An array of Irish beverages will be served at the bar, and you can even bowl all night for £50 per lane. The event starts at 7.30pm -call 01843228632 to book.
Irish night at the Elephant & Castle, Ramsgate
Elephant and Castle – A traditional Irish fayre set with bacon and cabbage and Irish stew. Food will be served from 2pm until they run out. There will also be live music from Anto Morra from 8.30pm, with the sound of Irish folk. Free entry.
ASHFORD
Clubbing night at Cameo, Ashford
Get your dancing shoes on and get involved in a clubbing night at this venue in Ashford. Tickets available on the door from 9pm.
Kent and East Sussex Railway Real ale train , Tenterden
Kent and East Sussex Railway will be running a real ale train service from Tenterden to Bodiam, giving passengers the chance to travel on a 1950s train. You will have a taste of some of the finest ales from micro-breweries and more, as well as a meal and entertainment. Ticket price is £29 and the event runs from 6.30pm – 7pm.
DEAL AND SANDWICH
Hudson and Cutler at the The Saracens Head, Deal
The foot stomping folk and rock duo will be making an appearance at The Saracens Head at 7.30pm on Alfred Square. Tickets are £15, and includes a traditional Irish meal. Tickets are available at the pub and Smugglers Records.
Nick Kelly at The Hop and Huffkin, Sandwich
Audiences are regularly left open mouthed by Nick Kelly's guitar playing skills. He will be at The Hop and Huffkin performing a set of Irish folk classics. You can relax at the bar or sit in the comfortable restaurant and enjoy some Kentish food, local ales and cider.
