Published: 05:00, 10 September 2024
For most people, a household pet becomes more than just an animal – they become family.
Here, we’ve profiled 20 of Last Chance Animal Rescues’ adorable pooches in Kent who are desperate to find their forever homes…
Patsy, 3, chihuahua and pug mix
Patsy is a sweet girl who loves nothing more than falling asleep on your lap.
The three-year-old chihuahua and pug mix originally came into the rescue with her mum but had to be separated due to fighting.
She could potentially live with a calmer male dog in her new home.
Princess, 9, French Bulldog
Princess is a sweet French Bulldog who loves the company of people.
She came into the rescue with another female dog but the pair had to be separated due to fighting.
As she is nine years old, she is looking for a nice, quiet environment with owners who can give her lots of attention.
She will need to be the only pet in the home.
Beyoncé, 3, greyhound
Beyoncé is an ex-racing greyhound who has never lived in a home environment before.
As she came to the rescue straight from racing kennels, she is still finding her feet.
The three-year-old is looking for a loving and understanding owner who will be able to get her used to all the sounds of a normal house, as she is easily startled by loud noises.
Beyoncé has only been around dogs of her own size so she will not be able to live with small animals.
Kingsley, 1-2, crossbreed
Kingsley is a sweet, bouncy boy who loves being around people and seems friendly with other dogs.
The very affectionate crossbreed came to the rescue from a Welsh pound.
Kingsley is between one and two years old so will need a fairly active home with older teens, or an adult-only home environment.
Alfie, 8, Dachshund and Tilly, 7, pug
Alfie the Dachshund and Tilly the pug are looking for an understanding home where they can live together.
The pair are very friendly and love being cuddled by staff and volunteers at the rescue.
Alfie can get a little bit possessive over his food around Tilly so they will need to be fed separately.
However, they are happy sharing a space together and share their beds and toys on a regular basis.
Reggie, 13, Staffie
Reggie is an older dog who came into the care of the rescue after his owner died.
The 13-year-old Staffie is looking for an owner who he can be around most of the time as he hasn’t had the best stability in life.
He is looking for a loving home where he can cuddle up on the sofa with his new owner.
He still likes to go on walks daily and would like a garden – but he is not keen on cats.
Julie, 2, lurcher
Julie is a kind natured lurcher who is full of love and energy.
She is looking for a home with someone around for most of the day and will need a garden she can have the zoomies in.
But, once she is settled she will be fine to be left for a few hours with the radio on – her favourite is Classic FM.
Julie loves to go on long walks and to run around off the lead in a secure area. Her new owner will need to take her on two to three walks per day.
While her recall isn’t the best, the rescue believes this could get better over time with training.
After a walk, she likes to cuddle up on the sofa for a long nap.
The two-year-old is house trained and fine with other dogs, but has never lived with another animal
Julie is fine with children but as she can get excitable the rescue is advising she be rehomed with older children.
Lilo, 5, and Stitch, 7, French Bulldogs
Lilo and Stitch are a pair of very affectionate siblings who love going out and snuggling up together.
Lilo is five and Stitch is seven – both are French Bulldogs.
They seem good with other dogs but will need an owner who can offer further socialising.
Brandy, 1, Lurcher x Irish wolfhound
Brandy is a very large lurcher and Irish wolfhound mix who will require a lot of training.
He came to the rescue from a Welsh pound so they have no history on him, which means he will need to be in an adult-only home.
Due to his size and age he can be very strong and bouncy and so can get carried away while playing.
His new owner will need to be willing to take their time with him and teach him the basics.
Brandy will not be able to live with small animals or cats as his breed has a high prey drive.
Disco, 2, greyhound
Disco is a happy ex-racing greyhound who has never lived in a home environment.
He is looking for a loving home with an owner who can give him the love he deserves.
The two-year-old had to have half of his tail amputated due to wagging it too much and bashing it on everything.
As he has only been around other greyhounds, he will not be able to live with any small animals.
Azirel, 9, lurcher
Azirel is a very calm and sweet lurcher who walks well on a lead.
The nine-year-old enjoys the company of other dogs and people and is looking for a nice quiet home.
Yoda, 3, French Bulldog
Yoda is a very well-behaved French Bulldog who will do anything for a treat.
She loves being around staff and volunteers at the rescue.
However, she isn’t the biggest fan of other dogs so will need to be the only pet in the home.
Leo, 3, greyhound
Leo is a recently retired greyhound who sadly spent his whole life living in kennels racing.
Since being at the rescue, staff have noticed he can become very interested in all new things – especially toys.
The squeak sound from a toy scares him but he desperately wants to play with them.
For now, the rescue has been giving him toys without squeakers in them and volunteers often find him playing by himself in his kennel.
Leo is a very energetic boy who loves to go for walks and finds absolutely everything exciting.
He is looking for a home with a big sofa or bed he can lounge on all day.
Due to his history, he will not be able to live with any small fluffy animals.
Amber and Annie, both 2-4, British bulldogs
Amber and Annie are an affectionate pair of British bulldogs who would love to be rehomed together.
The pair recently arrived at the rescue and are very sweet and happy.
Tamlin, 2, lurcher
Tamlin is a big bouncy lurcher who is looking for a very active home.
He will need a very secure garden as he has been known to be an escape artist.
The two-year-old is very affectionate and his new owner will need to be able to take him on lots of walks as he loves being out and about.
Pinky and Perky, 3, French Bulldogs
Pinky and Perky are a pair of French Bulldogs who will make wonderful and entertaining pets.
They came into the care of the rescue as their owners were unable to keep them, but are both full of character.
Both of them love their toys and will play for hours – they love attention.
Pinky recently had a spinal operation but she has made a full recovery.
As they weren't socialised when they were younger they can be protective of their owners from other people and dogs.
They will need to be the only pets in an adult-only home
