Yellow weather warning for rain issued for Kent

A 24-hour yellow weather warning has been issued for Kent as heavy rain is set to hit the county.

Coming into force from 3pm today and lasting until 9am tomorrow (Sunday), the whole county is set to face downpours which could cause flooding.

Issued by the Met Office, forecasters are also telling people to brace themselves for longer journey times due to spray on the roads.

Bus and train services could also be affected by the downpours while power supplies could also be cut off.

Some properties may also be flooded because of the amount of rain forecast.

Residents are being urged to check if their property could be at risk of flooding and if so, to consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit.

Motorists are also urged to take care on the roads.

The warning was initially expected to be in place until 6pm on Sunday but this morning forecasters revised their estimate.
