The latest edition of the CAMRA Good Beer Guide has been published, with 28 Kent pubs making the list for the first time.

Among the new pubs added are the Little Gem in Aylesford, which reopened in July last year after being closed for a decade.

Small, but beautifully formed, The Little Gem on Aylesford High Street has been lovingly restored to its former glory by the Goachers family

The pub - one of the smallest in the county - was bought and restored by Maidstone brewery Goachers Ales after 10 years of campaigning and refurbishment.

Now, little more than a year after reopening, the pub is one of the latest additions to the Good Beer Guide.

The Little Gem is run by Ollie Aubrey, who is also in charge at the Walnut Tree in Maidstone - another new pub to have made the guide this year.

The guide, which surveys 4,500 of the best pubs across the UK, is the definitive beer drinker’s guide to the very best pints in the most picturesque and friendly pubs.

The Three Sheets To The Wind team outside the pub in Rochester high street

Another pub to be added to the guide after only being open a short amount of time is Three Sheets to the Wind in Rochester.

The family-run pub opened in April last year on Rochester High Street, selling Austrian and Kent beers to reflect the owners’ heritage.

A number of notable pubs have also made a new appearance in this year’s guide, including The Alma in Painter’s Forstall, near Faversham, Smugglers Record Shop in Deal and The Magnet in Broadstairs.

In total the Guide contains 146 Kent pubs.
