DETECTIVES have arrested four men after a lorry with a jet engine on the back was stopped by officers early this morning near Kent International Airport at Manston.

Police patrols were called to the area after an alarm was triggered at African Airways on the Manston Road Industrial Estate.

The lorry was stopped in Manston Road just before 6am and four men from the Tooting area of London were arrested.

The four, two aged 18 and the others aged 47 and 36, were later being interviewed by police.

Det Insp Steve Woollcott said: “We have been concerned about crime on the industrial estate and have been working with businesses there to ensure that all is being done to prevent theft.”
