Andy Barcham walked away with a haul of trophies, including player-of-the-year, at a sombre awards evening on Saturday night.
Gillingham’s end of season ceremony came just hours after the club suffered a shock relegation to League 2 following the 3-0 defeat at Wycombe in their final game.
Barcham picked up the main players’ prize from the supporters, the players’ player trophy as well as the away player-of-the-year and the krbs sponsor’s accolade.
His pride at winning those four awards was overshadowed, however, by the fact that the team were relegated.
"It’s great but nothing is going to change the feeling that everyone is going through right now," he said.
Captain Barry Fuller was runner-up for the player-of-the-year trophy, while Mark Bentley came in third place.
Luke Rooney’s goal at Southampton was voted as pick of the bunch by the supporters.
The young player-of-the-year for the second year running was Jack Payne, who finished ahead of Rooney and Tom Wynter.
