Andy Hessenthaler was pleased to see his side emerge victorious despite facing some tricky conditions at Priestfield.

A heavy pitch and strong winds made it difficult to produce entertaining football against Northampton and the Gillingham manager was just glad to see his side finish with maximum points once more.

"I'm probably more satisfied this week than I was last week," he said.

"To score five goals away from home last Saturday was fantastic but with the conditions this weekend it made it difficult for pretty football.

"The wind played a big factor and the pitch was very difficult to play on.

"We kept the same 4-4-1-1 which we finished with last week but in the first half I think we started a little slow.

"We gradually got into it, had a little spell and began moving them around a bit and then got the goal. We had other opportunities and Cody could have easily has another hat-trick, the keeper has made a couple of good saves and second half.

"It was very difficult for everybody out there, for both teams, and the biggest thing for me is that we've ground out a result."

Meanwhile, Danny Spiller went for an X-ray after the game as his foot was badly swollen and there are worries he may have broken a bone.
