POLICE say that a motorcyclist killed in a collision with a car near Ashford was a 50-year-old man from Maidstone.

The victim, who has not yet been named, was pronounced dead at the scene on the A252 in the village of Chilham.

The crash happened at about 2.40pm last Friday when the man's Ducatti motorbike collided a Vauxhall Astra. The car driver was uninjured but suffered severe shock.

Police closed the road between the Challock roundabout and Bagham junction, Chilham, for almost four hours. The road was cleared and re-opened at 6.30pm.

Any witnesses to the crash are urged to call PC Michelle Brown on 01233 611055.
