A 57-YEAR-old pedestrian suffered fatal head and chest injuries in a road accident in Swanley. Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to the crash which happened in London Road near the junction with Crescent Gardens.

The victim, from Swanley, was dressed in blue jeans, a dark coat and baseball cap, and had just left the nearby Rainbow Inn Chinese takeaway when the accident occurred on Friday at about 9.30pm.

He was taken to hospital in Sidcup but died on Sunday afternoon. It is believed the pedestrian had been walking to a central traffic island. The car involved was a red VW Golf travelling towards London. The driver was not injured.

Anyone with information is asked to telephone PC Dave Pearce on 01322 280055.
