Police are looking for the driver of a BMW with no bonnet and lime green wheels to help them get to the bottom of a serious road crash.

While the crash happened in Essex, in the town of Grays, it is thought that people in Kent may know the cars they are looking for.

The accident, which happened in the early hours of Sunday May 9, is believed to have been witnessed by two drivers attending a nearby car cruise. Police say one of the the drivers is believed to regularly attend cruising events in Kent and Essex.

Officers from the Essex Police Road Crash Investigation Team would like to speak to the driver of a dark coloured BMW car, which has been described as having no bonnet and lime green wheels, and the driver of a white Ford Focus ST car.

Insp Steve Brewer of the crash investigation team, said: "We believe that the BMW is regularly seen at cruising events in Essex and Kent and we hope the driver and the driver of the Focus will come forward as soon as possible.

"The two drivers or anyone who can help us contact them, should call us on 0300 333 4444."

The two men who suffered critical injuries were in a green Peugeot 406 which went out of control in Oliver Road and collided with a fence.

The men, aged 41 and 32 are being treated at Royal London Hospital.
