THE recent spell of bad weather has put the boot into much of the weekend’s football action.

Medway Council has called off all the Rochester and District League games on Saturday and all the Medway Messenger Sunday League games.

A council spokesperson said: "We haven’t been able to walk on the pitches or mark them.

"The pitches are waterlogged and the water is not going to drain away in time. For safety reasons, and for the condition of the pitches, we’ve had to give them a break this week."

All matches on Maidstone Borough Council pitches at Giddyhorn Lane, Mote Park, Penenden Heath, Park Wood, Senacre, Shepway and South Park are also off.

The pitches will be inspected throughout next week before a decision is made on next week’s matches.
