"Ah, Kent - so much to answer for" was Harry Hill's quip after he won two awards at Sunday night's Bafta ceremony.
The comedian who was brought up in Staplehurst, took the accolades of best entertainment programme and best entertainment performance for his Harry Hill TV Burp on ITV.
The comedian, known for his outrageously large shirt collars, went to Angley School in Cranbrook and Cranbrook School before training to become a doctor, with a spell in obstetrics at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.
The lure of comedy stints proved too strong and he gave up medicine for gigs.
He admits that doing his award-winning Saturday night programme is a double edged sword as he has to trawl through hours of footage to spot the weird and wonderful moments that make up his show.
Hill, who lives in south London with his family, has three young daughters. He has not forgotten Kent in his meteoric rise to stardom and has brought his one man show to such venues as Chatham, Tunbridge Wells and Dartford.
