Kent Police

A man who raided a Gillingham bank yesterday afternoon is believed to have been armed.

Medway police say a white man aged between 20 and 30 went into the Natwest branch in Watling Street at around 2.30pm.

He appeared to be carrying a firearm - as yet they are unsure whether this was an imitation. It was not fired, and no-one was injured.

The man, who had a local accent and whose face was covered, made threats to staff and an amount of cash was handed over.

He was dressed in dark clothing, including a dark woollen hat with a peak and a dark scarf covering his nose and mouth. He also wore white trainers.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact Kent Police on 01634 891055 or Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
