Biker killed in A26 crash named

A motorcyclist who died after a crash on the A26 has been named as 42-year-old Mark Ingram-Smith.

Mr Smith, of Otteridge Road, Bearsted, died on Monday after his Suzuki motorbike collided with a Ford Transit van near Goose Green Farm, in Hadlow.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned on Thursday.

Police are appealing for witnesses, in particular the driver of an orange-coloured vehicle that went past a white Ford Transit van about 4.20pm as it was reversing onto the road from a farm entrance.

The road was closed while emergency services attended the incident and reopened around 9pm.
